HUBBARD F. WEEKS, OF FREEHOLD, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR AN AXLE-CENTER AND FIFTH-WHEEL PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,589, dated January 14, 1902. Application filed ctober 14, 1901. Serial No.78,662- Term ofpatent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HUBBARD F.WEEKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Freehold, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Axle-Center and Fifth-Wheel Plate; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescr iption of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The figure shows in perspective a View of my new design.
As shown by the drawing, the leading or characteristic features of my design consist in a plain straight body portion, constituting an axle center, and a semicircularshaped portion or curved plate disposed mainly on one side of the body portion and in a horizontal plane above the parallel horizontal plane of the top of the axle-center, the ends of the plate projecting slightly beyond the said axlecenter and lying adjacent the ends of the axlecenter.
The letter A designates the body portion or axle-center, which is plain and straight in shape, and B represents the ends of the same.
0 is a plate of a semicircular shape located in a horizontal plane slightly above the parallel horizontal plane at the top surface of the D D are the free ends of the semicircular plate, which project beyond the line of the axle-center, the major portion of the semicircular plate being at one side of the body por-' tion or axle-center.
E is the flat upper surface of the plate, and
portion.
The complete design appears to the eye as a structure having a straight body portion with a semicircular plate disposed at one side of a straight line passing longitudinally through the said body portion and said plate being lo= cated above the top surface of the axle-center and having free ends projecting beyond the perpendicular face of the said center.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for an axle-center and fifthwheel plate, as shown, and with the characteristic features described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
