WIRE FENCE STAY.
(Application filed Oct. 15, 1901.)
Pi .1 PIV' I I E & v 1 L Fig.2 Y I;
EIITNESSES. W P W TTORNEX UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETTIS A. REID, OF RICHMOND, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR A WIRE-FENCE STAY.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 35,387, dated December 3, 1901.
Application filed October 15,1901. Serial No. 78,760. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PETTIs A. REID, a citi- .en of the United States, residing at Rich- Inond, in the county of Wayne and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a new, useful, and original Design for Wire-Fence Stays, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a wire-fence stay or cross-wire embodying my new design. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional plan view showing the form of a loop; and Figs. 3 and 4, a front and rear elevation, respectively, of the stay.
As shown in the drawings, the said wire fence stay consists of an ordinary strand of wire a, having at suitable intervals therein looped portions 5 of the form and arrangement substantially as shown-that is to say, theloops projectont from the body of the wire at an angle thereto to adapt them to be coiled or bent about the strand-wires of a fence or wire fabric and connect said strands and stays together and the two sides or members I) and b of the said loops Z) lie in substantially the same transverse plane, while the intermediate or connecting portions of the body of the stay extend from one side of one connecting portion to the opposite side of the next connecting portion in the series, as shown.
As will be seen, the leading or material features of my design reside in a wire-fence stay composed of an ordinary single strand of wire having loops therein at intervals extending therefrom at an angle to the main portion or body of the stay and the sides or members of which are arranged in substantially the same transverse plane.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The design for a wire-fence stay, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribing wit- PETTIS- A. REID.
