SPECIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 35,169, dated October 8, 1901.

Application filed August '7, 1901. Serial No. 71,271. Term of patent '7 years.

To aZZ whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, SETH WILLIAM BABBITT, a citizen of the United States,residin g at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a newand original Design for a Standard for Solid or Plated Metal Ware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.

This invention relates to a new and original design for a standard for solid and plated metal ware; and it is-embodied in the particular arrangement, formation, and features presently to be described, and shown in the accompanying drawing.

In the drawing the design is illustrated in elevation in a single figure; and it consists generally in a base part A, from which extends the outwardly-ourved body portion 13, and which in turn is curved inwardly into a narrow elongated neck portion C, having a flared upper end or terminal D. The portion B has extended over its sides the fanciful scroll-shaped ribs with lobe-shaped projections at their upper ends, and between these projections on the plane surface of the body at the base of the stern portion C is a pinnated representation. The portion C has a series of relatively narrow ribs 0 thereon, forming, in efiect, continuations of the ribs on the body B. The ribs 0 terminate in large scrolls with their ends projecting inwardly, and between the upper portions of the ribs are the bead effects d.

The essential feature of this design resides in the general shape of the standard, with the flaring upper end and the fanciful-ribbed body portion.

While I have described this invention as being for a supporting-standard for solid and plated metal Ware, it is intended more particularly for a candelabra-standard; yet it is to be understood that the design may be used in connection with other material and for other purposes.

Having thus described my invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-'- The design for a standard for solid and plated metal ware substantially as shown and described.
