DESIGN FOR A TRADE-MARK The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, J. H. AOKERMAN, of New York, in the county of' New York, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Trade- Mark for vulcanized India-rubber goods; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.

This invention and device relate to apecnliar design for a trade-mark, for the protection of certain man nfacturers of vulcanized India-rubber goods and fabrics, which consists in the device hereinafter described.

Ihe accompanying plate of drawings represents the trade-inail( of the Union India-Rubber Company.

A is a heavy oval black line, which encloses and forms the outer edge of the border of' the mark.

Immediately within and near the black oval border, but leaving a narrow space between, is a fine black line, corresponding, in shape, with the border-line.

The ground enclosed within the oval lines is white, but may be of any other color.

Over the centre, and on a curve corresponding with upper side of the oval, are the words, Union India- Rubber Company, in German text, beneath the centre of' which is a line double-spiral dash. Below are the words, Manufacturers of, in small Roman capital let` ters, on a horizontal line; and, on a horizontal line longitndinally across the oval ground, in larger Roman letters, with ornamental capitals commencing each word, are the words, Vulcanized-Rnbber Goods. Immediately below, on a parallel line, in small Roman capital letters, are the words, Under Goodyeaxis Patent of June 15, 1844; and, immediately beneath, in still smaller letters, are the words, Iteissued, December, 1849; extended, 1858.

On a curve, corresponding with the lower side of the oval, are the words, New York, in round capital letters.

In the centro of' the oval ground, in red color, is a representation of the India-rubber tree, and enclosing the body of the tree is a monogram, composed of the letters U. I. R11, representing the Union India-Rnbber Company, the monogram being also in red color; but other colors may be employed, instead of red, for these devices.

Having thus described my invention,
