To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that We, FREDERICK W. VAN -BERGH and GEORGE W. STYER, citizens of the United States, residing at Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Teapots or Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a tea or colfee pot embodying our design. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view on the line 00 a", of Fig. l.

The leading feature of our design is the shape and configuration of the body of a tea or coffee pot or similar containing vessel, which is equally applicable to other analogous articles usually embodied in tea-sets.

The article we have shown consists of a body, the lower portion of which (indicated by 1) is slightly larger in diameter at the upper edge 2 thereof, and at the lower edge is a band 3, supported upon ornamented legs 4:. The sides of the body 1 are ornamented with a series of oval or egg shaped indentations or inwardlycurving depressions 5, forming between said portions ribs 6. The upper portion 7 of the body curves inwardly above the edge 2, gracefully flaring outwardly at its upper end, as shown, where it supports a top piece or cover 8. In the inwardly-curving portion of the part 7 are arranged a series of depressions 9, resembling slashes, which are located on lines between the oval or eggshaped depressions in the part 1. Ornamental shot-beading 10 is arranged,as shown, above the oval depressions 5 in the part 1, and a similar beading 11 extends around the upper edge of the top portion 7.

The essential part of the design being the particular shape or configuration of the body, we have shown the spout 12 and handle 13 in dotted lines.
