(Application filed Sept. 29, 1900.)
U ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VIL'LIAM ll. UASSEL-li, ()l \Vlll llGLlNG, WEST VIRGINIA.
DESIGN FOR A DRINKING VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming pail; of Design No. 38,458, dated October 30, 1900.
Application filed September 29. 1900. Serial No. 31,581. T rm of t t 31 s.
lie it known that l, WILLIAM I]. ASsnLh, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of \Vesi Virginia, have invented a new and original Design for Drinking-Glasses, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to a new and original design fora drinking-glass and is illustratm'l in the accompanying, d rawings, in which Fig'ure 1 is a side elevation of the drinking-glass. Fig 2 is a plan view lookinginto the bowl of the glass, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line A l of Fig. l.
The leading features of my design consist in a drinking-glass having a base, astem rising therefrom, a bowl surmonnting the stem, the exterior of which is circular thronghi'iut in horizontal section and which extends from the stem in an upwardly swelling convex body, is then contracted on concave lines to form a concaved neck, above which is a convex shoulder and a flaring exteriorly-eoncave rim, and the interior of which is formed with a series of separate horizontally-convex surfaces which, viewed from the outside of the .glass, impart to the glass the appearance of In the said drawings the referencemumeral indicates the base. 2 is the stern rising therefrom, and 3 the bowl surmounting the stem. The exterior surface of the bowl is circular throughout in horizontal section, and, as shown, the bowl extends from the stem in an upwardly-swelling convex body 4. It is then contracted on concave lines to form the concave neck 5, above which neck is formed a convex shoulder G and a flaring exterior]y-concaved rim 7. 'lheinterior of the bowl is formed with a series of separate horizontal convex surfaces 8, which when viewed from the outside of the glass impart to the latter the appearance of having an angular exterior composed of a series of fiat surfaces.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The design for a drinking-glass, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM H. CASSELL.
