DESIGN FUR A TABLE-FORK.
@the .Stimuli neemt tn in time tettn' rztin mit noting pnt uf tlg same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN-z Be it known that I, J. W. GARDNER, of Shelburne Fells, in the county of Franklin, and State of Massachusetts, have invented o1' produced a new and original Design for the Shape or Coniguration of the Tines of Steel Table-Forks; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description ofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents, in perspective view, one of the forks in question.
Figure 2 represents a section taken across the tines to show their shape and configuration.
The nature of my design consists in rounding the backs of' the prongs or tines of the fork, and making their front or inner sides square or flat, and thus give to the tines a shape or configuration that beautiies the article, and gives it greater commercial value.
A represents a fork, of which B are its tines. These tines are rounded on their backs, a a a, and are flat on their front or inner sides, c, as seen in the cross-section, fig. 2, which represents the tines as semioircular in cross-section, or :t section of a segment of a circle, which cross-section of course varies with the taper of the tines, but still of' a rounded form at the back, and square er fiat on the front.
Having thus fully described my design, what I claim, is-
The shape or configuration ofthe tines of table-forks, viz, rounded on their backs, and Hat on their front or inner sides, as herein described end represented.
