' m: uoa'ms PETERS co. Pnmuumq, wasumurom u c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ELMER D. ABBOTT, OF SPRINGFIELD, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO J. W. R. GDINE, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CLAMP-BODY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,974, dated January 10, 1899.
Application filed November 12, 1898. Serial No. 698,300. Term of patent 14 years.
To 0. whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELMER D. ABBOTT, a citizen of the United States, residin g at S pringfield, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for Clamp-Bodies, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a side elevation of aclamp-body showing my design. Fig. 2 is a top plan view; and Fig. 3, a sectional view on the line as as of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the clamp-body formed in two planes, so that a portion of it has one elevation and another portion of it has another elevation, and in sloping the end A as illustrated.
The outer outline of my design is composed of straight lines a, b, and c and curved lines d, e, and f. The straight line 1) runs in the same direction as the line 0, but in a lower plane. The upper edge B of the clamp is slightly rounded, as illustrated in Fig. 3, and the sides of the body 0 taper outward from said edge, as clearly seen in Figs. 2 and 3.
Around the lower edges of the body part a bead-like projection D is formed, as illustrated in the drawings. This bead-like projection is similar in outline to the outer out line, as above described, and inasmuch as the inner edge E of the clamp conforms to the outline of the bead it will be understood that said edge is in different planes corresponding with the planes of the outer outline. A crossbar F projects outward from the lower portion of the end A and tapers downward along its upper edges from said end, while its lower edge is curved, as shown at g in Fig. 3. The inner face of said cross-bar is tapered from its lower edge upward and outward, as also the inner face of the end A, as illustrated in Fig. 1.
What I claim as my invention is The design for a clamp-body, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ELMER D. ABBOTT.
