SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,922, dated June 28, 1898.

Be it known that I, JOSEPH FR. LAURIN, of Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Back of a Brush, Mirror, or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.

The drawing is a view of the back of a brush, showing my design.

The leading feature of my design consists in the raised foliated scrolls inclosing a series of panels varying in shape and size, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter.

In the drawing, A indicates the back of the brush-body, and B the back of the handle. The lower end of the handle is ornamented with the foliated scrolls 1 and 2, having at their upper and lower ends the floral ornament 3 3 and inclosing the panel 4:. The upwardly-extending foliated scrolls 5 and 6 inclose the panel 7. The panel 8 at the lower end of the brush-body is inclosed on the righthand side by the foliated scroll 9 and on the left-hand side by the foliatcd scroll 10, the pendent branch 11 of which extends down over the narrow portion of the handle. The panel 12 on the center of the brush-body is inclosed on one side by the foliated scrolls 13 0 and 14, the lower and leaf ornament 15, and the scrolled leaves 10, and on the other side by the beaded scroll 17, the scroll 18, having the upward and downward extending scrolled leaves, and the foliated scroll 19. The scroll 35 20, from which extends a bulbous scrolled branch, and the floral ornament 21 ornament the upper end of the brush and form the upper margin of the panel 11.
