NORRXS PETERS c9. morcxumo" WASNINETON, o c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN H. CLAPPISON, OF EASTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A SHOE-UPPER.
5 of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Shoe-Upper; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates to a novel design for hoe-uppers wherein a peculiar cut of the material is presented, the shape or contour of which when viewed in plan presents inner and outer curves as well as oblique and straight lines.
In the drawing the figure represents a plan view of my novel design for a shoe-upper, this view only being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
0 point cto the point f, slightly inwardly curved between the points f and g and a straight line from g to it. From the point a an outwardly-curved line extends to a point j,where the same line starts to curve inwardly and terminates at the point a. From the point a a straight line extends to a point z and then takes an oblique direction in a straight course to a point y, whence it extends in a straight line to a point so, thence in an oblique direction to a point w, and from this point 20 the straight line extends to the point 4). From this point 12 a deep curve extends to a point u,from which latter point a slightly outwardly curved line extends to the point t, where it continues in a gradual inner curve to the point 8. Starting at this point 5 a similar inner gradual curve extends to the point r, where a slightly outwardly curved portion extends to a point q, and between this point and the point p a deep inner curve is presented. From the point p a straight line extends to the point 0, and from which point 0 extends an oblique line to the point or, and from said point n a straight line extends to the point m, from which latter point an oblique line extends to the point Z and continues in a straight line to a point 70. From this point it an inwardly-curved line extends to the point i, and continues from said point 2' in an outward curve to the point It.
It will be seen that my design presents two portions of the upper having duplicate straightlines and curves, and at the same time the two portions are'not divided or separated from one another.
What I claim is The design for a shoe-upper, herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN H. OLAPPISON.
