SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,225, dated February 1, 1898.
Application filed September 29, 1897. Serial No. 653,525. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W. CUsHMAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and 0riginal Design for Oil-Cans, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation showing my new design, and Fig. 2 a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
My design consistsin an oil-can having the shape and appearance represented in the accompanying drawings-that is to say, the body A is cylindrical in cross-section and has formed in itlongitudinal corrugations a. One end of the cylindrical body is formed with tapering shoulders B, sloping to the spout or neck. At the end of the tapering shoulders there is a downwardly-tnrned flange F, milled 0r corrugated upon the edge, as shown. Above this milled flange is a cylindrical cap D. The length of the bodyis something less than twice its diameter. The essence of the design resides particularly in the cylindrical body having corrugated straight sides parallel With the axis of the can and shoulders tapering or sloping to the neck or flange F.
Having described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to acquire by Letters Patent, is
