DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design NO. 27,791, dated. October 26, 1897.
Application filed September 15. 1897. $erinl No. 651,782. Term of patent 31 years.

Be it known that I, ARTHUR MIDDLETON ROSE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of Westchesteraud State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Carpet or other Fabric, of which the following is a specification, reference being had more particularly to the accompanying drawing, illustrating the same and forming part hereof.
The leading feature of my design is a Morris-style pattern of conventionalized leaf and flower forms, the leaf forms being interlaced and forming the ground.
In the drawing, a is the body, I) the border, and a Z) the complete carpet.
c are conventionalized ilower forms, and d are conventionalized leaf forms interlacing one another and forming the ground, these figures and forms being arranged in a pattern of Morris style, as shown.
The design o[ my invention will be best understood by reference to the drawing, and it may be expressed in any desired colors or combinations of colors and applied to velvet, Wilton, Brussels, or other carpeting.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a design for a carpet, the body (1, substantially as shown.
In a design fora carpet, the border I), snlr stantially as shown.
3. The design for a carpet consisting of the body (I, and border 11, substantially as shown.
