DESIGN FOR A BAND-TIGHTENER FOR TIRES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,305, dated July 6, 1897.

Application filed March 10,1897. Serial No. 626,889. Term of patent '7 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANK B. GRIsWOLD, of Troy, Rensselaer county, New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Band Tighteners for Vehicle- Tires,of which the following is a specification.

The device to which my design relates is a ti ghtener which consists of two parallel plates of metal, separated, but joined over a part of their circumference, from one of which plates extends a cylindrical rod.

My design consists in the configuration of said tightener, as illustrated in the drawings, of which- Figures 1 and 2 are side elevations taken from points of view ninety degrees apart, and Fig. 3 a plan view.

Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.

My design shows a cylindrical body A, ex-

tending from and concentric with a circular plate B. Parallel to the plate B is another circular plate 0. Between the plates B and C is an arc-shaped wall D, which appears integrally with the said plates. Between plates B and C is a recess or opening E. The plate 0 may appear beveled on its outer side, as shown in Fig. 1, and the cylindrical body A may have apertures, as F and G; but the presence of these apertures and the beveliin, of the plate 0 are not essential features of my design and may be omitted.

I claim- The design for a band-tightener for vehicletires, substantially as shown and described.
