DESIGN.
S. J. CARR.
BOTTLE.
No. 27,260. Patented June 29, 1897.
WITNESS S INVEII'TOR SamaeZ 700/77 fiM I TTURNE! SAMUEL J. CARR, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
DESlGN FOR A BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,260, dated June 29, 1897.
Application filed February 5, 1897. Serial No. 622,227. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom it may concern.-
lle it known that I, SAMUEL J. CARR, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Baltimore, State of Maryland, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation ofa bottle, showingmy design. Fig. 2 is a plan View thereof.
The leading features of my design consist in an irregular hexagonabshaped bead and correspondingly-shaped rim or edge located within and concentric therewith and forming the base of the bottle. From each corner said rim or edge is curved inwardly and upwardly on the body of the bottle, the outer surface of which is composed of a series of vertically-diverging planes, the whole forming a hexagonal-shaped shaft or body. The corner of each of said planes terminates in an arch-shaped bead, above which is an edge or rim arched concentrically with the said arch-shaped beads. The arched edge aforesaid is mounted with a convex-shaped crown which terminates in a cylindrical-shaped bead from which arises the usual bottle-neck. It will be obvious that by having two opposite sides of the hexagon longer than the four remainin g sides, they will,by theirarrangement,
form an oblong figure in cross-section and will appear broader in one position than they would in another.
A is the hexagonal-shaped bead forming the base of the bottle, and B is the correspondinglyshapcd rim or edge located within and concentric therewith and forming a part of the base of each corner C of said rim or edge and is curved inwardly and upwardly. D are the vertically-diverging planes, the whole forming a hexagonal-shaped shaft or body. The corners e of said planes terminate in the arch-shaped head I. From the latter arises the rim or edge G, arranged concentrically with the aforesaid bead F.
II is the convex-shaped crown, which terminates in a cylindrical-shaped head I. From the latter arises the usualshaped bottleneck K.
\Vhat I claim is The design for bottles substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this 27th day of January, 1897.
