DESIGN FOR A HORSESHOE-NAlL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,074, dated May 18, 1897. Application filed June 28,1895, $erial No 554,144. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL E. KEMPSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Sufiolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produceda new and original Design for Horseshoe- Nails, of which the following is a specificaiion, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which show my invention.
Figure 1 is a face or front elevation, and Fig. 2 an edge elevation, of a nail showing my design, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
My design consists in a horseshoe-nail having a head and shank substantially as herein shown.
The leading and most essential feature of my design consists in the shank of the nail having a flattened face and back and laterally curved or rounded edges inclined flat at the point, the fiat inclined surfaces diminishing upwardly and disappearing in the laterally curved or rounded edges, as shown.
The head of the nail has a flattened top F, a flattened inclined face A, which projects beyond the face of the shank, a flattened back A, flush with the back of the shank, and laterally curved or rounded edges B B.
The shank of the nail has a flattened face a and flattened back a and laterally curved or rounded edges 1) I), having flat inclined surfaces d d at the pointend. The laterally curved or rounded edges 1) b terminate in the flat inclined surfaces (1 J, said surfaces diininishing upwardly and disappearing in the laterally curved or rounded edges b 11' at IF, as shown in Fig. 2.
The tapering shank of the nail has a facehevel fat the point, as usual.
'What I claim is- The design for a horseshoe nail, substantially as herein shown and described.
