UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN S. SPENCER, OF NEW? YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR AN EYEGLASS-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 2639a, dated December 15, 1896.
Application filed November 4, 1896. Serial No. 611,088. Term of patent 14 years.
T0 60% whom it may concern..-
Be it known that 1, JOHN S. SPENoER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Eyeglass-0ase, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, and in Which- Figure 1 is a top view of an eyeglass-case incorporating my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of same on the dotted line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse section of same on the dotted line 3 3 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 4E is a like section of the top of same, the covering being omitted.
The leading features of my design consist of the external form or configuration of the eyeglass-case, wherebya case of attractive appearance is presented, as shown in the accompanyin g drawings.
In the drawings, A designates the top of the case, and B the bottom thereof, these parts, as usual, being hinged together and provided with a clasp O. The cover A comprises the inner metal shell a and the covering 17 therefor, and the bottom 13 comprises the inner metal shell 0 and its covering (Z. The shells a e have the form it is intended the finished case shall bear, and being of rigid material preserve said form.
The top or cover A has the edge and surface outlines shown, said cover having the curved raised surfaces increasing in height toward the clasp O and the abruptly-turned surrounding edges 6. Adjacent to the clasp C the top or cover A has the distinct depression 1), as shown. The line lettered E in Fig. 1 is merely a depressed line formed in the leather covering 1) and is unimportant.
The bottom 13 has an edge out-line corresponding with the outline of the top A, and at its edges said bottom turns abruptly upward to meet and harmonize with the edges of the top A.
What I claim is The design for an eyeglass-case, substantially as shown and described.
Signed at New York, in the county and State of New York, this 2d day of November, 1896.
JOHN S. SPENCER.
