DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,171, dated October 13, 1896.
Application filed August 17, 1896- Serial No. 603,089 Term of patent 3-1 years.
To all whom it nmy concern:
Be it known that we, JUNIUS 1 WHITINU and EZRA CA'JTHER, of Lebanon, Linn county, 0regon,have invented a certain new and originalDesign for Badges; and we hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which'fornis part of this specification.
The accompanying drawing is a face View of a badge embodying our design.
Our design, as shown, consists of a campaign-badge comprising a substantially rectangular or banner-shaped body,which is suspended from a horizontal bar or band, upon which an appropriate inscription may be placed, and surniounting this bar is the representation of a spread-eagle holding in its claws arrows and olive-branches. The surface of the banner-shaped body portion is colored red, white, and blue in vertical bands, and suspended from the horizontal bar is the representation of an uncovered or bare miniature tin colored canteen bearing the portrait of \Villiam McKinley upon its front face, (and, if desired, the portrait of Garret A. 'llobart upon its reverse side.) Suspended from said canteen is the representation of a gold coin.
The essential features of our design are the banner-shaped body having three vertical strips colored red, white, and blue, respectively, suspended from a pin surmounted by an American eagle, and below the pin is a miniature canteen bearing a portrait, and the representation of a gold coin suspended from said canteen.
\Vhat we claim as new is The design for a campaign-badge, substantially as herein shown and described.
