UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES C. \VIENTGE, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNOR. 'lO 'llll l HOW ARD STERLING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BOWL FOR TEA-SETS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,69 6, dated September 24, 1 895.
rp filed June 26, 1895. Serial No. 554,142. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, CHARLES C. WIENTGE, of the city of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bowls for Teaets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
My design consists in the peculiar and novel ornamental shape of the bowl and its pedestal, which together form the most important part of the severalarticles usually associated together to form a tea-set. In these articles I preserve the usual conventional form by which they are distinguished from each other, as the coifee-pot, teapot, water-pot, the creamer, sugar-bowl, and the slop-bowl, and give to the bowl the peculiar and novel shape and ornamentation which characterize the pieces of which the tea-set is composed.
Figure l of the drawings is a perspective view of my new design for bowls, the handle and spout of a teapot being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2 represents a cross-sectional view of the bowl.
The leading features of my new design consist in the convex bottom, vertical panels extending therefrom, and concave panels connected with the vertical panels, which contract the upper portion of the bowl, the cover having a convex top and vertical panels extending from the convex top and an ornament on the top.
In the drawings, 5 is the pedestal, having the concave surface 6, contracting to form a post, which is finished with the bead 7. Resting on this post is the convex bottom 8 of the bowl, the sides of which are formed by a series of vertical panels 9 9, the upper portion of the bowl being formed by the concave graduallynarrowing panels 10 10, which contract the upper portion of the bowl.
The cover 11 consists of an inverted convex top 12, having a central ornament 13, and vertical panels 14 ll, extending from the top.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a bowl for tea-sets as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
CHARLES C. VVIENTGE.
