Description

DESIGN.
0. F. WALTHER.
RADIATOR.
No. 23,361. Patented June 12, 1894.
Mia/mam fiih UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES F. \VAL'lIlER, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A RADIATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,361, dated June 12, 1894.
Application filed January 17,1394. Seria1No.497,205. Term ofpatent 14 years.
To all whom it may wncern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. \VALTHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a certain new, useful, and original Design for Radiators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My new and original design has for its objcct to impart a graceful and pleasing shape to a radiator for hot water or steam heating, as will be hereinafter pointed out.
The design is illustrated in the accompanying drawing which is a perspective view of a radiator having applied thereto, my design.
Aleading and characteristic feature of my design consists in the curved outlines of the sections which, when assembled, make up the radiator, these outlines being such that thesectious when seen in elevation, bulge outward or expand slightly at the top and at the central portion, there being a contracted portion between such bulges or expanded parts. This feature of the design has the effect of relieving the radiator of that angular and box-like appearance which results when the outlines of the radiator sections, especially the central side portions thereof are perfectly straight, and perpendicular when the radiator is set up. The end section A, is ornamented by a framework 3, in arabesque design which surrounds a central panel 2. This section is also ornamen ted as at 4, near the upper corners thereof, and as at 5 near the lower corners. The ornamentations l and 5 appear upon both sides of the loop or section near its edges, and they give a fullness or completeness to the surface or exterior ornamentation of the loop which would otherwise be lacking.
Having thus described my new and original design, what I claim is- The design for a radiator, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
Witnesses:
GEORG R. llowAnn, JOHN C. COS'IAIN.
