DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,500, dated June 6, 1893.
Application filed March 21, 1893- Serial No. 467,032- Term of patent 3% years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, WILLIAM H. J Ail/ U- NEAU, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex, and JUSTUS VERSCHUUR, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson, State of New Jersey, citizens of the United States, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoon or Flat-Ware Handles; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a front view of a spoon of our design, and Fig. 2 is a reverse view of the same.
The leading feature of our design consists in a spoon handle having the configuration and ornamentation on the front, and back,
- substantially as shown and described and plays the figure of a sailing vessel, 1 of antique design, the enlargement. being bordered with scroll-shaped ornamentation 9'. Below this, in turn, the handle is more narrow and at the opposite edges has long concave curves, f, commonly found at the shanks of spoon handles. At the reverse side of the handle, the outlines and the ornamental scrolls are closely similar in shape and disposition to those of the opposite side. Toward the wide end of the handle, is displayed a perspective view of the Administration building g, of the \Vorlds Columbian Exposition; below this is a plain shield, 71; below this, in turn, a representation of a globe, 2', and at the head of the shank, j, a disk-shaped representation or ornamentation It.
What we claim as new is- 1. The design for a handle, for spoons substantially as shown and described.
2. In a design for a handle, for spoons, the obverse, substantially as shown and described.
3. In a design for a handle, for spoons, the reverse, substantially as shown and described.
