DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,289, dated November 11, 1890. Application filed October 10, 1890. Serial No. 367,649- Term of patent 3%; years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE J. STENGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, VVestchester county, New York,have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, refer ence being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, suchas carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design consists of the body A and the border B. The body A is composed of conventionalized somewhat rose-shaped forms lying in a bed of conventionalized leaf forms and being connected one with another by large somewhat scroll-shaped branches, the whole lying on a shaded groundwork. The
border B is composed of an inner margin of grass-like ornamentation, a central portion containing conventionalized leaf and somewhat rose-shaped forms and somewhat scrollshaped branches lying on a shaded groundwork, an outer margin having gems lying on somewhat fan-shaped ornamentations, and an outer shaded groundwork.
\Nhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
