DESIGN FOR A SALT OR PEPPER BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,140, dated September 9, 1890.
Application filed July 23, 1890. Serial No. 360,104. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH '1. HARRIS, of the city, county, and State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have inventeda new and original Design for a Salt or Pepper Box, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a design for a salt or pepper box for table use, which box can also be used, when made on a larger scale, for powdered sugar and the like, and consists of a capstan-shaped body with an outwardlyfiaring base, a rope band above said base, a. concave middle portion having elongated panels and depressions above said panels, a rope band at the upper edge, and a; convex top part.
The nature of my design is fully shown in the accompanyingdrawing, to which reference is made.
a represents the base of a salt or pepper box.
a are raised projectionsrepresenting screwbolts on the base.
I) is a rope band above the base.
d is the middle portion, having a concave outline and flaring toward the top and bottom.
e are raised elongated panels on the middle portion d.
fare circular depressions between the panels and alternating with the same.
g is a rope band at the top of the bod v,and h is a convex top of the body.
The design furnishesa neatand ornamental box for salt, pepper, sugar, and other articles for table use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- A design for a salt or pepper box, composed of a base having raised and nicked projections on the same, a rope band at the top of the base, a main part. on said base flared from the cent-er toward the top and bottom, raised longitudinal panels on said main part, depressions above said panels and alternating with the same, a rope band at the top of the main part-,and a convex top, substantially as set forth.
