Description
DESIGN.
0. E. BENTLEY.
BOTTLE.
Patented July 15, 1890.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES E. BENTLEY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FO R A BOTTLE.
To a whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES E. BENTLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Bottle, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side view of a bottle as seen from one corner of its body portion and embodying my design; and Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate the design.
The leading features of novelty of my design fora bottle or dressing-case ornament consist, more particularly, in the configuration of its lower body portion, which is surmounted by a comparatively long central neck or stem.
The body A of the bottle or ornament, as viewed from the side in the position shown in Fig.1 of the drawings, is surmounted bya central neck or stem at, which is preferably slightly enlarged toward the top,but may be straight or cylindrical from end to end. From the base or root of the neck or stem the body A of the bottle presents the general appearance of having been turned in a lathe and then out off vertically at four sides to form four fiat reotangularly-disposed substantially plane faces. The comparatively straight upper face or portion 1 of the body A slopes or inclines downwardly and merges into a rounded side or edge outline 2, which merges into a downwardly and inwardly curved lower part 3, which dies away at the bottom or base line 4 of the bottle.
Fig. 2 of the'drawings shows that the four flat vertically-ranging and right-angularlydisposed side faces 5 5 5 5 do not meet at their ends, thereby leaving or producing what may be termed corners 6 G G 6, Which are curved vertically on the edge line 2 of the sides of the body, and are curved horizontally on a line struck from the center of the body. The vertically-curved side outlines of the body A cause its four flat faces 5 to present a substantially oval marginal outline to the eye, as seen best in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
An ordinary cut-glass stopper is shown in the neck of the bottle.
I claim as my invention The design for a bottle, substantially as herein shown and described.
