DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,015, dated April 9, 1889.
Application filed March 7, 1889. Serial No. 302,348. Term of patent 3% years.

Be it known that I, J AMES L. FOLSOM, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have 5 invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification,
reference being had to the aceompanyin g photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be 10 worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in. the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face I5 View of a carpet showing my new design.
My design is composed of a body, A, and a border, B. The body A is made up of ornamental figures resembling conventionalized Water-lily forms. The interstices contain small The border B has a wide inner band composed of similar figures resembling conventionalized water-lily forms.
The inner margin contains gem-shaped figures. The outer band contains a few large fan-shaped figures. Between the outer and inner band is a band containing a few of the eonventionalized water-lily forms, and between these an ornamental groundwork. The outer margin of this band is formed bya snecession of scroll-shaped figures, and the inner margin is made up of small ornamental figures.
\Vhat I claim new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
