BRIDLB FRONT. No. 18,480. Patented July 24, 1888.
WITNESSES: 3mm; [MENTOR ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS M. LIVINGSTON, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A BRlDLE-FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,480, dated July 24, 1888.
Application filed February 10, i887. Sflifll No. 227.217. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS M. LIVING- MON, a citizen of the United States, and a res.- dent of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bridlo- Fronts, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My design relates to the front or head-hand of bridles; and it consists in snperpnsing or producing upon the body of a bridle front an ornamental device having a spiral configura- Lion with a curved band inserted within the bends of the spiral, said hand being of n contrasting color.
As shown in the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bridle-front, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a detail, and Fig. 3 a crosssection on linex :r of Fig. 2.
A indicates aspiral configuration, the upper bends of which are formed with an open curve and the lower bends with a semi-convolute curve. This configuration is superimposed or produced upon the body 0 of the bridle-front within a recess, 0, formed by upturning the upper and lower edges 0 of the body. Showing through the open curves of the spiral configuration is a curved band, B, of contrasting color.
In the Design Patent No. 17,095, granted to me February 8, 1887, is shown and described the recessed body and spiral figure, and it is notsonght to broadly claim herein such a configuration; but
What I do claim is- The design for the surface configuration of the bridle-front herein shown and described, consisting of the body having upper and lower nptnrned edges, the spiral fignresnperposed or produced thereon, having upper plain bends and lower seini-convolnte bends, and with a curved band of contrasting color running through said spiral figure.
Signed at Newark, in the county of Essex 45 and State of New Jersey, this 5th day of February, A. D. 1887.
FRANCIS M. LIVINGSTON.
