SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,889. dated September 7, 1886.
Application filed August 1|, 1F8fi.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PETER G. J OIINSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Riley Centre, in the county of Riley and State of Kansas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Ving Cultivator-Shovel, of which the following is aspceification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part; thereof.
Figure 1 is a view in perspective of my newly-designed wing cultivator-shovel, and Fig. 2 a transverse section through the shank of said shovel upon the line a; x in Fig. 1.
My design consists in a novel configuration of the wing-cutter and shank of the shovel, as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompan yi ng drawings.
A is the wing-culter,aml B the body or shank of the shovel. The wing-cutter A, which is of a straight configuration, or mainly so, forms an acute angle with the shank 1-; of the shovel, inclining upward, and is ofa tlat contour on its surface, which flattened contour is extended to and throughout the junction b of said eutter with the body or shank B. From thejn ne- Serial No. llttfllfl. Term of patent 1-1 years.
tiou b the shank 13, which has its longitudinal edges 0 0 parallel, or nearly so, is shaped to gradually assume a concave form on its inner surface, (I, and convex form on its exterior surface, 0, in transverse section, which curved configurations are continued throughout the whole remaining length of the shank.
I claim- The design for a wing cultivator-shovel herein shown and described, the same consisting of a straight or approximately straight wingcntter, A, of llat contour on its surface, and a shank, I the two presenting an acute-angled figure with the cutter inclining upward, and the shank I being of concave form on its interior, d, and convex shape on its exterior, e, in transverse section throughout its length, but gradually assuming a flat contour corresponding with that. of the wingentter at and throughout thejunctiou 1: 01' said cutter with said shank.
