Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. I'IALLIDAY, a resident of Yonkers, in the county of \Vestchester and State of New York, have invented and produced, by my own industry, genius,

efforts, and expense, a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a full description, in connection with the accompanying photograph, which represents a face 10 view of my new design for a carpet.

This invention relates to a new ornamentation of the face of a carpet, oil-cloth, or analogous fabric.

In the accompanying photograph are rep [5 resented the various parts which enter into my new design.

Term of patent 35 years.

A is a central prominent group of flowers and leaves, 1% another group of flowers and leaves, 0 still another group of flowers and leaves, and l) a fourth group of flowers and leaves. The background upon which these groups A, B, C, and D are placed contains numerous rosette-like ornaments, an, and geometrical ornaments I) b. as shown.

I claim- The design for a carpet, the same consisting of the figures A, B, U, l), a, and b, substantially as shown.
