UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
I SALOMON DAVIDSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENTAL CHAlN -LINK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,658, dated January 10, 1882. Application filed November 28, 1881. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom t't may concern Be it known that I, SALOMON DAVIDSON, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Design for Ornamental Chain-Links, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a side view of my newly-designed chain-link, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line a: a: of Fig. 1.
The leading features of my design are the notched collars or bands a a, which are of rectangular form, and have transverse notches b at their angles,'that serve to remove the boxlike appearance of plain bands and give a light appearance to the link. 0 c c c are longitudinal ribs upon the cylindrical body at of the link and connecting the bands at. e 6 are the end rings of the link, connected to loopsf, formed by eontinuations of two oftheribs c. As shown, the loopsf are formed diagonally to the hands a, so that the link is suspended at its middle and presents an angle to the front; but there may be one or two loops at each end, formed parallel to the plane of the band-faces. The ribs 0 may also be varied in form.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The design for ornamental chain-links herein shown and described, which consists in thebands at, having notches I), combined with the cylindrical body d and ribs 0.
2. lhe design for ornamental chain -links herein shown and described, which consists in the notched and angular bands a, ribs 0, loopsf, formed diagonally ofthe band, and the rings c.
SALOMON DAVIDSON. Witnesses:
