DESIGN FOR A SIGN FOR TEA DEALERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,594, dated December 13, 1881. Application filed Novemher l, 1881. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, L. SoLoN GEoUT,acitizen of thepnited States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Sign for Tea Dealers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the aecompanyingdrawing, which forms a. part of this specification.
The drawing represents an elevation of one side of my sign for tea dealers.
The leading featureof the design consistsin a sign made to representtheimageof a Chinaman, who holds his arms spread out horizontally, so as to imitate in outline the Roman capital letter T. This Ghinaman, thus represented in his native dress with highly ornamental trimmings, may have painted horizontally upon his arms and vertically upon his dress, in fancy letters, the word Teas, or names of other merchandise; and a loop to his head, by which to hang the sign. may be shaped and painted to represent the Ghinamans cue curled upward.
This sign may he made of Wood or metal, or ofa combination of both, in anysuitable man ner, and is to be tastefully finished in colors and gold-leaf, and so as to have the same appearance from either side.
What I claim is- The design for a sign for tea dealers, consistingof the imageof a Ohinaman holdinghis arms out horizontally, so as to represeutin outline the Roman capital letter T, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
