WILLIAM A. BOYDEN, OF JERSEY CITY, N. J ASSIGNOR TO THE MCNAB AND HARLIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A LUBRICATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,375, dated August 2, 1881.
Application filed December 8, 1880. Term of patent 1 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. BOYDEN, of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented anew and original Design for a Lubricator, of which the following is a specification.
The drawing represents a side view of my new design for lubricator.
This invention relates to a new ornamentation and form of lubricators of that class in which a glass cylinder is contained within a metallic shell, the shell being perforated to permit the inspection of the contents of the glass cylinder.
My invention pertains to a new ornamentation and form of this shell; and it consists in making the shell with four-leafed openings between upper and lower moldings, as shown.
In the drawing, A represents the metallic 2o shell of the lubricator, B its cap, and 0 its bottom. Below the cap B is the upper molding and above the bottom 0 the lower molding. The shell A has on each side an opening, a. which is formed by the intersection of four circles resembling fourJeafed clover, two leaves being in line vertically and two horizont-ally.
I am aware that quarterfoil ornaments have been used in architecture, and do not claim to have invented the same.
I claim- The design for a lubricator, consisting of a cylindrical body, A, having quarterfoil openings a between an upper and a lower molding, substantially as shown.
This specification signed by me this 15th day of November, 1880.
WILLIAM A. BOYDEN.
