DESIGN FOR A COFFlN-PLATE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,945, dated August 17, 1880.

Application filed July 21, 1880. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, \VM. M. SMITH, of \Vest Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Im- 5 provenient in Coffin-Plates; and I do hereby declare the following. when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, to he a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of 10 this specification, and represents a face view. This invention relates to a design for the name-plate used upon coffins; and it consists in the configuration and ornamentation, as shown in the accompanying illustration.

The plate is oblong in shape. Its two sides are of corresponding ogee shape, its two ends straight and parallel, the ends ornamented with the representation of fringe. Around the edge of the plate is a molding ornamented with a scallop-shaped traeery, as shown in the 20 accompanying illustration.

I claim- The design for coflin-plate, consisting; of the oblong plate, its ends parallel, and sides of ogee shape, with a molding around its edge of 25 scallop-shaped tracery, and on its ends the representation of fringe, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
