UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIOE.
HLLIAM DEMUTH, 0F NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR PIPE-STEMS.
Speciiicatiou forming part ol' Design No. 11,362, dated August 2G, 1879; application filed .Tune 12, 1879 [',lcrni of patent 7 years] To ali whom it .nay concern.'
Be it known that I', WILLIAM DnMU'rH, of' the city, county, and State ol New York, have originated and designed a Pattern for Pipe- Stelns, of which the followingI is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
This design is represented in the accompa` nying drawings, in which- Figure l represents a stem in perspective View containing my design. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are detail views ofthe prism.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
My design is applied to stems ol' tobaccopipes; and consists of a mouth-piece provided with an ordinary molding.;I and terminating at its lower end in a molding, the base of which rests upon a prism or parallclopipedon, the exposed faces of which are ornamented with figures, and below such ornamental body is a peculiar shaped molding, the end of the stein terminating in the usual molding and reduced portion to receive a cork as ordinarily.
In the drawings, the letter A designates a ppestem, the l'nonth-piece of which is provided with the usual molding C, and terminates at its lower end in a molding, a, the base of which rests upon a block having the shape of a prism or paralleloppedon, the exposed faces of which are ornamented, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
Below the ornamented prism or parallelopipedon is a peculiar shaped molding, b, and below the same is the usual or ordinary molding D, and the stem at its end is provided with a reduced portion to receive the cork or to enter the openingin the pipe.
It will be seen from the foregoing, taken in connection with the accompanying illustration, that I have produced a stem having a novel and distinguishing appearance, and the saine is chiefly secured by interposing between the two peculiar shaped lnoldings (t b the prism or parallelol'iipedon block havingits eX- poscd faces ornarnented.
What I claim is- Tlie design for a pipe-stem, as herein shown and described, the same consisting of a mouthpiece having at its lower end the molding a, the base of which rests upon a prism or parallelopipedon, the exposed faces of which are ornamented, and below which ornamented prism or parallelopipcdon is the ornamental molding I), as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
