Ru 291 EX DESIGN.
M. H. CRANE. Coffin-Handles.
NQDIOQOQ. Patented Nov. 19,1878,
Whammy UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARTIN II. CRANE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO CRANE, BREED & 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR COFFlN-HANDLES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,909, dated November 19, 1878; application filed October 21, 1878.
[Term of patent 31} years.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN H. CRANE, of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new Design for an Ornamental Socket for a Collin-Handle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
My socket, as shown at A, is surmounted by an octagonal cornice-bar, rising at an obtuse angle in the center, and projected horizontally about one-quarter its length each way, and finished with tips or points extending beyond the ends. Said bar is ornamented by a floral decoration surmounting the elevated point of the angle, and with a sunken panel in the face surface. From the center of the bar or pole, and from underneath the decoration, falls a double cord, extending to the bottom, and terminating in a pair of tassels. Attached to the bar or pole by means of bands encircling the same, at the intersection of the angular and horizontal sections of the same, is suspended a banner-shaped lambreqnin ornamented by alternate stripes of Greek fret-work and ribbed matting running perpendicularly, the bottom finish of which is a heavy bullion fringe.
The peculiar form and decorations of the said bar, floral decoration, pendrnt cord and tassels, and lambrequin may be varied.
The handle B is shown as attached, but is not included in the claim herewith.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is- The cornice-bar and lainbrequin design for coflin-handle, as herein described, and illustrated by the drawing.
MARTIN H. CRANE.
