Be it known that I, JOHN SonUcY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Roodhouse, in the county of Greene and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness-Saddles; and i do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to harness saddles and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a plan View of the saddle complete; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section taken through the complete saddle; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view, and Fig. 4 is a detail perspective View of the brace member of the saddle.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 denotes a pad member consisting of a casing having upper sections 6 and a lower section 6, a pad being secured to each of the inner faces of the lower section, a portion 11 of said lower section bridging the upper ends of said pads, the upper sections 6 being spaced from the lower section 6, and having their lower ends secured to the respective ends of the lower section. A curved brace member 2 has lugs d, to which are hinged the upper ends of arms 5, said arms being beveled at their lower ends as shown at 14;, to permit of their being slidably mounted between said sections of easing. Reinforces 8 are mounted on each of the upper sections 6, and screws 7 are inserted through said reinforces and through said upper sections and also through openings 9 of said arms 5,

r and said screws have their ends impinging the lower section 6 of the casing. A supolementarv and 12 is arran ed in the s ace between the curved brace and said bridge portion 11, and said hinged portions of the arms 5 and brace 2 are adapted to contact with said lower section 6 on opposite sides of said bridge portion 11 to hold the same in position. The lower ends of the upper sections have secured to them a belly band 10.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

A harness saddle comprising a pad member with upper and lower sections, oppositely disposed pads secured to the lower section, a portion of said lower section bridging the upper ends of said pads, the upper sections being spaced from the lower section, to form pockets, a curved brace member spaced from the bridged portion of the lower section, arms, each having their upper ends hinged to said brace, said arms being provided with beveled lower ends to permit of said arms being slid into and secured in said pockets, reinforces mounted on the upper sections, means inserted through said arms having their ends impinging against the lower section, a supplementary pad arranged in the space between the curved brace and the bridged portion, said hinged portions of the arms and brace having lugs which contact with the lower section on opposite sides of the bridge portion to hold the same in position.
