To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUnoLrir 'Kommer-1n, a subject ot' the King of Hungary, and a resident ot' Chicago, in the county ot Cook and State ot' Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Outside lValls, of which the following, when'taken in connection with the drawing accompanying and forming a part hereof, is a tull and complete description, sutlicient to enable those skilled in the art to which it` pertains to make, use, and understand the saine.
This invention relates` to outside walls of buildings and other constructions; and the object of the invention is to obtain an ontside wall constructed oit' concrete or cement and tiles in an economical manner, which will be durable, of good or iinished appearance, and of suiiicient strength to withstand the strains to which it is subjected.
Outside walls ot' the kind embodying` this invention are used principally -tor the ifi-ont, sides and back of detached buildings, and :tor the front and back of buildings provided with party walls.
In the drawing referred to Figure 1 is a. horizontal sectional view of a portion ot a wall embodying this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical'sectional View of a portion of a wall embodying the invention. Fig'. 3 is a front elevation of a portion of a wall embodying the invention. Fig. 4 is a perspective of a tile forming an element in the wall embodying the invention; and Fig. 5 is a perspective of a tie or brace forming an element of the wall.
A reference letter applied to designate a given part is used to indicate-said part throufrhout the several iigures of the drawing w vierever the same appears.
A is a tile, provided on the upper and lower edges thereotl with the recesses a. B is a tie or brace, made of metal and provided at one end with the upturned por tions o, Y), and the downturned portions b', and at the other end provided with aperture b.

The ties'are attached to strips C 'by nails or bolts E, E, and the planks or boards arer attached to the strips by nails or bolts E.

The tiles A are held firmly in place by the cohesion of the cement or concrete and also by the ties B.
The space between the tiles A, of one row and the tiles of the next adjacent row may be filled with mortar, after the cement or concrete F is hardened.
I he strips C, embedded as described, are used to attach lathing or other material to the inside of the wall, after said wall is completed, but the attaching of lathin'g or other material to said strips is not a material part of the invention.
Having thus described my inventiomwhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,-
l. As a new article of manufacture, an outer' wall consisting of a cement body, strips in said cement body, one side of said strips exposed on one of the vertical faces of said cement body, and said strips adapted to form bases for the attachment of articles to both faces of said cement body, tiles on the opposite vertical face of the cement body from the strips, said tiles, provided with recesses on the edges thereof, and ties, said ties extending through the cement body and provided With projections at one the vertical faces of said cement body, said tiles respectively provided with recesses on the upper and lower edges thereof7 metal ties respectively provided with an aperture at one end and with projections at the other end, said projections positioned to engage with the recesses in the tiles, strips 0n the opposite facev of the cement body from the tiles, means to attach the strips and the ties together, said strips' surrounded on three 1o sides by said'cement body and the remaining side of said strips in substantially the same plane as-the opposite vertical face of seid cement body from the tiles, and said strips adapted to form bases for the attachment of articles to both of the vertical faces of said l5 cement body.
