Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led August 6, 1908.

To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, SIGMUND VON MEDVEC- zur, a subject of the King of Hungary, and resident of Arad, Empire of Austria-Hungary, have invented new and useful Improvements in Slabs or Blocks Composed of Cement and fire-Netting, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention consists of a slab or block composed of a layer of concrete or cement supported between two layers of wire netting, which are connected up through the concrete or cem-ent body by means of cross Or one piece of netting only may be employed and the ends of the wires opposite the side on which the netting is placed, may be anchored in the opposite face of the concrete body.
Figure l is a perspective view showing the construction of the slab, Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation showing its employment for embankments and Fig. 3 shows how the slab may be bent to form the body of a stove or furnace.
The slab consists of a layer of concrete K arranged between two nets M and N and secured by means of cross wires o attached to the net at one side, passing transversely through the concrete layer and having their ends bent around as at c either to secure the net N or, in case one net (M) only is employed the ends of the wires c may be bent around immediately on to the top of the layer of concrete. The net M or, if necessary both nets, may be reinforced by stronger wires b and the meshes may befilled out with straw, rushes or the like. The reinforcing wires b may be passed through the loops formed by the bend in the transverse wires c as illustrated in Fig. 1. These plates may 4be bent before they have become entirely hardened and they will not crack in the process, t-he pulling strain being taken up by the nets and the concrete being subjected to compression mainly. The plates thus conform to the shape of the bank for instance in forming embankments as illustrated in Fig. 2. As illustrated in Fig. 3 the slabs may be rolled to form cylindrical bodies. In this case a single net M only is advantageously employed. The slab is laid on the supporting plate D and a suitable core placed thereon. The slab is bent around the core and the endsof the net M are attached together, the concrete ends also being pressed together. The mass is then allowed to harden on the core and the latter subsequently removed, when the cylindrical body will be finished and may be used for making hearths or furnaces or for other purposes.
The plates may be employed for other purposes if desired, in which cases they will be bent to the required form before they have entirely hardened.
I claim as my invention z- 1. A slab or block capable of being bent consisting of the combination of a facing of wire netting, a thick layer of concrete on the same and transverse wire s attached to the netting and extending through the concrete and means for anchoring the ends of said wires in the concrete substantially as described.
2. A slab or block consisting of a body of concrete, a netting' at each side of the same, and cross binding wires to connect the two nettings through the concrete substantially as described.
3. A slab or block consisting of a body of concrete, having netting layers at each side, transverse wires to connect the said nettings through the concrete, reinforcing wires passing along the netting and means for connecting the same to the nettings at the points of attachment of the latter to the transverse wires substantially as described.
