This' invention relates to plumbers appliences', and more particularly to," pipe holders, and-has for its object to provide such Aa device adapted .to hold making of-a wipe joint.
A further importa-nt 'object 'is -to Iprovide a novel form of standard and' pipeclamp-- ing device adjustable thereon.
A further-object islyto-provide a novel means for supporting the pipe sections-to be connected to an elbo'w, whereby the sec` tions may be adjusted at anydistancefrom the support and'disposed at any desired p angle with respect to the elbow. I
Another object is to provide a novel means for Asecuring the device'to aiioor or other similar support.
Other objects and advantages will-be 'apvparent from the following description, and
it will be 'understood that changes in the specific struct-ure shown and described may l be made' within the scope ofthe claims 4 without departing from the ,spirit of the invention.
In the drawings, Fi'gul'e'l' `is a front View of thcholders, Fig. 2 is a side view thereof,

be rigidly secured in' suchy position.
AIn using the device the respective stand-` ards 11 and 12are screwed into the proper support until the shoulders13`.abut ther downwardly 4un'tihthe Aresilient arms and spider portions'are engaged a gainstthe vfloor with suiiicient firmness to properly brace the standards. ',One section of the pipe is then engaged betweenjthe jaws 22 and 22', after which the sleeves are adjusted'to the proper height and `secured by vmeansc' the thumb screws 17 andlS, when the thumb nut 29 may be tightened. A like method is pursued with the lopposite section, which is adjusted inproper position, to abut the end portion of the iirst ysection secured 1n `position, after which the operation of wiping may be very readily conducted.
'1t will be observed that the standard 12 is recessed at its upper end, the recess 30 beingprovided with threads to receive the l.reduced threaded portion 32.` of the extension bar, 31. j Slidably engaged upon the eX- tension bar `31, is a sleeve 33, having formed integrally therewith and extending laterally. therefrom aliarm 33, provided with an oliset `circular bossy31l. The bossis centrally apertured and provided with a rosette face, and adapted to l be adjustably engaged against a rosette Vwasher having an eloxigatedi opening 3G therethrough, through the oit-set 34 and by means of which therod et() and the rosette block 35 are adjusted, is 'the threaded bolt member 37, hav- `ing the thumb vmit 38 engaged thereon, as
shown. The boltis gradually enlarged op- Ipositely of the threaded portion so as to lill the elongated opening 36. This enlarged portion is provided with a member 3... through which'the branch rod Ll() is passed and adjusted and clamped in any desired position by means of the above mentioned elements 34, 35, 36,37 and 38. When the enlargements enter the elongated' openings 36,`the rod 40will be held frictionally against the -rosette block.
Mounted to slide on the rod 40, is a. sleeve rod e0 may be used as a standard inde.
Inserted:
The arm 40 maybe adjusted at any angle with respect to the horizontal at t the same time that it is rotated tor similar adj ustinent of the arm 42. The fastening in i both of these adjustments is accomplished )by the one thumb nut.
The sleeve 33 is provided with a suitable thumb screw 33 projected therethrough for engagement with the extension. 3l to hold the sleeve thereon against sliding or rotativeinovement.
t will be observed that the member 31 is provided with a threaded portion 32 at its upper end, whereby in ordinary work where an extension is to be connected to an elbow the standards 11 of one set ot clamps may be inverted and secured in the socket 30 in the other set, the sleeve 33 engaged thereover, and the remaining standard 12 engaged slidably and held adjustably against longitudinal or rotative movement by means of the clamp nut 38. The numerals indi-` eating this use of the device are applied to Fig. l with dotted lines.
