WEI
ALBERT WILLIAM BADROW, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
ONE-PIECE LOOSE-LEAF BINDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 12, 1910.
Patented June *7, 1910.
Serial No. 543,514.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT W. BADRow, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in One-Piece Loose-Leaf Binders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specilication.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in loose leaf binder covers adapted to swing in planes at right angles to each other and providing means whereby the records of the departments7 classes, sections, heads, etc., such as cash book, journals, sales and ledger books, may be submitted, thus enabling the user to make reference conveniently from one part to another. An invention of this character has the advantage over individual books inasmuch as collective records may be held compactly together.
The invention comprises various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then speeiically dened in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view showing in solid lines the loose leaf binder covers open. Fig. 2 is a view showing the covers closed, and Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view through the covers closed.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a back to the device having a side piece B hinged thereto which carries the rings D, upon which memorandum sheets or leaves E, representing cash book, day book, etc. entries, are placed.
F designates a cover which is hinged to the longitudinal edge of the side B. A top H, similar to the said piece B, is hinged to one end of the back B and is provided with rings K disposed in planes at right angles to the planes of said rings D, and upon which leaves O of ledger sheets or memorandum slips of various kinds are fastened.
A cover Q, is hinged to the outer edge of the top H and adapted to fold over or underneath the cover F in the manner shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings and, when closed, the marginal edges of the two covers will coincide with each other.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of a loose leaf binder cover as shown and described, a simple and efflcient means is afforded whereby general records, such as journal, cash book, sales book, etc., may be kept together in one casin and of such a construction that it may be p aced within the pocket of a person, thus having the records for convenient use.
What I claim to be new is:-d
1. A loose leaf binder apparatus comprising a back, a side piece hinged to one of the longitudinal edges of the back, a tophinged at one end of said back, binder rings upon the hinged side and top pieces, and a cover hinged to each side piece and top and adapted to fold one over the other.
2. A loose leaf binder apparatus comprising a back, a side piece hinged to one of the longitudinal edges of the back, a top hinged at one end of the back, binder rings upon said hinged side and top pieces, a cover hinged to each side and top piece and adapted to fold one over the other, and rings in pairs upon each top and side piece, the rings upon said top piece positioned in planes at right angles to the planes in which the rings upon the side piece are located.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT WILLIAM BADROW.
Witnesses:
A. EDWARD BADRow, OLIVE L. RDPINGALE.
