FEED-BAG.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN H. EsDnRs, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Joseph, in the count-y of Buchanan and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Feed-Bags, which the following is a specication.

This invention relates to feed bags for draft animals, and one of the principal objects of the same is to providesimple and efficient means for supporting` a bag in position for use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a feed bag which to prevent the feed from spilling.

Still another and efficient devices for suspending or supporting the feed bag, said means being foldable to occupy but little space use.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,-

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a feed bag which may be made of canvas, leather or other suitable flexible material. Connected in any suitable manner to the bag 1 is a sectional ring comprising the members 2 and 3, said members being pivotally connected together by means of pintles 4, said pintles being provided with heads 5 which confine the two members 2 and 3 between them. The member 2 is provided with a projection 6 adapted to engage a recess 7 in the member 3 to hold said two members in extended position. The members 11 are each provided with a double keyhole slot 12 in the lower end thereof, and the pintles 4 are extended and provided with a T-head 13 adapted to extend through the slot 12 and to be turned for holding the members 11 in connection with the bag. lVhenever it is required to remove the bag the T-head 13 is turned into alinement with the slot 12, iafter which the members 11 may be removed. rlhe members 11a of the supporting arms are connected to the members 11 by means of a rule joint 14, whereby said members are held in alinement when open and will lie side by side when folded. The upper ends of the members 1la are pivotally mounted between lugs 15 formed upon an adjustable supporting collar comprising the metal bars 16, the lower ends of which are inwardly curved, as said bars are confined within a collar or box 18 provided with a binding screw 19 by means of which the members 16 are adjustable toward and from each other to fit the necks of horses of dierent sizes. The members 16 are provided at their upper ends with loops 20, and hooks 21 are provided with buckles 22 adapted to be adjusted by means of perforated straps 23 secured to the loops 20. -A yoke 24 provided with loops 25 at its ends is connected by means of the hooks 21 to the members 16. This supporting collar is passed around the neck of the horse adjacent to the llames, and an adjustable strap 26 passes through a loo 27 on the yoke 24, said strap being provi ed with a hook 28 adapted to engage the check hook 29 of the harness, said strap being provided with a buckle 30 for adjusting the same. The members 112L of the supporting arms are provided with pivoted latches 31 which engage eyes 32 on the members 16, as shown in Fig. 1.

When the device is to be carried in the vehicle, the bag 1 is disconnected from the members 11, said bag being closed to hold the feedV within the same. The pivoted latches 31 are disconnected from the members 16, and the supporting collar is removed from the animal. The members 11 are folded over parallel with the members 11a, so that the entire device will occupy but little space in the vehicle and can be quickly connected to the animal for use.

I claim l. A feeding device comprising a supporting ring consisting of two sections pivotally connected together at their inner ends, a feed bag connected to said ring, supporting arms provided With keyhole slots at their outer ends, pint-les upon Which the ring sections are pivoted provided with T heads to engage said keyhole slots to permit the bag to be removed from the support-ing arms, said supporting arms being formed in sections pivotally connected together by rule joints, a supporting collar adapted to be connected to the horse collar, said supporting arms being pivotally connected to said supporting collar, and pivoted latches for supporting said arms upon the supporting collar.

2. A feeding device comprising a collar, said collar being formed of a plurality of sections, one of said sections having a yoke connected to the check hook of the harness and provided With eyes at its extremities, the other of said sections being provided with hooks adjustably secured thereon and adapted to engage the said eyes of the yoke, sectional and hinged arms pivoted to second named section ofthe collar, hooks on the arms engaging eyes on the second named section of the collar and a feed bag comprising a sectional ring detachably and pivotally connected tothe supporting arms.
