To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES P. CLARKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the count of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible-Tube Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to collapsible tube holders, and in such connection it has particular relation to a device for maintaining, available for instantuse, the collapsible tubes such as are used for dispensing materials in a paste or plastic condition, these collapsible tubes constituting a well known form of package for vending materials such as tooth paste, shaving cream, reascs, paints and the like, and consisting o a tube of thin soft metal flattened and folded on itself at oneend to form a-closur'e, and being provided at the other end with an outlet closed by a screw cap. In the use of these tubes by the consumer, an objection -to the same has been their unsightly appearance after the contents are partly consumed, and the liability of some 0f the contents being left around the cap end, and the consequent soiling of articles coming in contact with the same.

The object, therefore, of my invention is to provide a simpleand eflieient holder for these collapsible tubes for maintaining the same at all times available for instant use, said holder being provided with means for closing the outlet ofthe tube, and being constructed and arranged to be perfectly clean and sanitary and also economical 1n preventing waste or loss of the material contained in the tube.

The nature and characteristic features of my invention will be more readily understood from the following description `taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, .in which,

Referring to the drawings, 7 is a wall plate provided at its lower end with an extension or bracket plate 8, which is provided with a threaded aperture'f) adapted to receive the threaded outlet end 10 of the collapsible tube l1, it being understood that the usual screw cap is first removed before inserting the threaded end 10 of the tube 11 into the complementally threaded aperture 9 of the bracket plate 8. A plate 12 is pivoted as at 13 or otherwise slidably mounted on the lower face of the bracket plate 8 to constitute a gate or valve to control the outlet of the material from the tube, being arranged to cover the aperture 9, but to be swung or slid to one side to open the same when desired. The upper end of the wall plate 7 is provided with an extension 14 having clamping means at its outer end for receiving and holding the folded end 15 of the collapsible tube 11. It will of course be' understood that any desired form of clamp may be used for this purpose instead of the form shown, which consists of a plate 16 having a bearing shoulder 17 at its upper end, and suitably apertured for the passing of thumb screws 18 of any preferred form, which are threaded into the outer end 19 of the extension 149 at the upper end of the wall plate 7.

For the easy insertion of the collapsible tube 11, that is to permit the same to be more readily screwed into the apertured opening 9 of the lower bracket plate 8, the upper bracket lll may be pivoted or hinged to the wall plate 7 as at 2O (see Fig. 4) so that the bracket 14e and its clamp may be swung up to permit the threaded outlet end of the tube to be freely inserted in the threaded aperture in the lower bracket 8 of the holder.

llFor the use of artists and others using a number of tubes of different materials, forI example paints, the form of the device shown in Fig. 5 may be used, in which the wall plate 7 is elongated and the bracket plate 8 is provided with a plurality of apertures 9 and gates 12 and being provided at the top with a plurality of independently controlled clamping plates 16.

There is thus provided a simple and eicient device for maintaining the collapsible tubesin position to be available for instant use'at all times, which device obviates the necessity of unscrewing the cap on the end of the tube each time it is desired to use the contents of the same, and in which the.

exterior surface of the tube is maintained at all times in cleanly and sanitary condition, the arrangement being such that if any excess of material is squeezed from the tube, the same will remain on the lower surface of the bracket plate 8, which may be readily cleaned without disturbing the remaining portion of the structure.

Having thus described the nature and characteristic features of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is:

1. A collapsible tube holder comprising a wall plate, a bracket extending therefrom, said bracket being provided with a threaded aperture to receive the threaded outlet end of the collapsible tube, and means for closing said threaded aperture.

2. A collapsible tube holder comprising a wall plate, a bracket extending therefrom arranged to receive the of the collapsible tube, and means for supi porting the flattened and folded end ol' the collapsible tube.

3. A collapsible tube holder comprising a wall plate, a bracket provided with means for securing the threaded outlet end of the collapsible tube, a secand a clamp carried by said bracket for securing the flattened and folded end of the collapsible tube.

4. A collapsible tube holder comprisingl a wall plate, a bracket extending therefrom having means for securing the threaded outlet end of the collapslble tube, a second bracket pivoted to the wall plate and extending outwardly therefrom, and a clamp threaded outlet end extending therefrom i l l l l l l bracket for securing the flattened and folded said bracket for securing the iattened and folded end of the collapsible tube.

6. A collapsible tube holder comprising a wall plate, a bracket extending therefrom said bracket being provided With a threaded aperture to rece1ve the threaded outlet of the'collapsible tube, a gate secured to the lower surface of said bracket adapted to close the threaded aperture, a second bracket extending from the wall plate, and a clamp carried at the outer end of said bracket for securing the flattened and folded end of the collapsible tube.
