'lhis invention relates lo an aulomatic brake7 which adapted to be used in con necl'ion with carriages, wagons or the like. and isl so arranged that it may be either thrown on by hand or applied by the backingl ot thc horses connected to the tongue ol thc wagon.

lnorder to allow Yfor the pivotal motion ol the front truck relative lo the Wagon, there is provided a pair ol facing pulleys Q-L and Q5, which are pivotally secured in any well-known manner to a bracket 26, which in lurn is secured to the under side of the axle ll. The pulleys 2l and 25 are so arranged as to be lo :ated at either side of the king-pin 23, and are adapted to forni a guide .for the flexible connection 20 which passes between them.
