To all whom tt may concern.-

Beit known that 1,-CHARLES F. WALKER,-of Beu- 'ords Store Post Oice, in the county of Somerset, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new anduseful Improvements on a certain Washing-Machine, for which Letters Patent weregranted` to me, bearing date the 5th day of March, 1867, No. 62,708; and I do hereby declare that J(he following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying' drawings, making a part of this specification, in which-'- Figure l is a perspective view of my box-machine as improved.

The object of this invention is to produce a cheap, Simple, and easily-adjusted and regulated washer, to which end certain details of construction are employed, which will be more fully described hereinafter.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will' proceed to describe the same as introduced and modified. y

B l represent two dashers, which may be made semicircular in form to fit an ordinary tub, or of any desired shape. They are connected by the link G, in such manner that each one is allowed a vertical motion independently ofthe other.

H H are vertical rods rigidly attached to the crossbars L L on the dasher, which rods are attached, at

their upper ends, to the lever G. y

taehed to the top of the tub or receptacle 'containing` the mechanism. y

To the centre of the bar K is suitably attached the rope E, which passes through an orifice in the lever C,

and is attached to a handle, F, above the same.

It will be seen that the rope E holds the lever C in position, and .that the latter, when raised and lowered,

imparts vertical motion alternately to each dasher.
