OLOF KNUTSON, OF STOGKIIOLM, SWEDEN.
CUPBOARD AND BED COMBINED.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 17, 1907.
Patented July 6, 1909.
Serial No. 397,951.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLOF KNUTsoN, a subject of the King of Sweden, upholsterer, and residing in the city and Province of Stockhelm, Sweden, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cupboards and Beds Combined, of which. the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of cupboards and bed-frames where these'latter can be folded into the former.
The invention is characterized thereby that the bed-frame consists of three upwards above each other and into the cup-board turnable parts, of which the part nearest to the cup-board is turnable about horizontal pivots in the side walls of the cup-board a little distance from its inner edge, so that, if the bed-frame is folded into the cup-board, the part last mentioned will be at the front, the middle art at the top, and the outmost part at the ack of the cup-board, the inner and outer parts being each at the free edges pivoted to a cross iece, of which the one is provided with a hoo or such like and the other with an eye or such like for holding together the bed parts and the bed-clothes in the cupboard.
My invention will be hereinafter fully described and its novel features carefully defined in the claim.
In the drawing, which serves to illustrate my invention, Figure 1 shows the bed folded out and in plan, Fig. 2 the same folded in the cup-board and in vertical section. Fig. 3 is a perspective view corresponding to Fig. 2.
-2- signifies the cup-board, 10 a cover for it, and 8- the doors of the cupboard.
-1, 7, and 3 are the parts of the bed frame connected to each other by means of hinges, of which the part 3 is turnable about pivots 11- in the cup-board.
4 is a cross piece pivotally connected to the part -1- and provided with an eye 6 and -9- is a cross piece connected to the part 3 and provided with a hook 5, intended to be hooked in the eye, when bed-frame is folded into the cup-board.
Having now described my invention, what I claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A folding bed structure comprising in eombination, a cabinet composed of rear, side and bottom walls, a top wall hinged to said rear wall, a front wall hinged to said side walls, a bed structure composed of a head section rotatively mounted to said side wall in the front part thereof, supporting legs hinged to said head section to fold toward the front end thereof, a head board hinged to said front end of said section, a hook secured to said head board, an intermediate section hinged to said head section and provided with supporting legs hinged to fold toward said head section, said foot section having a foot board and an eye adapted to be engaged by said hook to lock the folded sections together to form a united structure adapted to be swung into said cabinet about said rotatable mounting of said head section so as to dispose the weight of said structure inwardly of said mounting.
In testimony whereof I my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
OLOF KNUTSON.
