Be it known that. I, DANIEL WERTZ, a citi-- 'zen of the United States, residing at Toledo,

in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a newand useful Improvement in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specificat on. I

My invention relates to a garment sup porter, and has for its object to provide a sim le, convenient and reliable device of the kin whereby hose and other articles of ununattached. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing theholder of the supporter attached to a garment, partly broken away. Fig. 3 is an edge view of the supporter as shown in Fig. 1.

To attach the su porter to a stocking or other garment, the older5 is placed against the inner side of thetop portion of the garment and then turned on its ivot outward and upward through the bai 1, and then downward to its normal pendent position, drawing with it .a portion of the fabric as shown in Figs. 2, 4 and.5.

In turning the holder down the fabric is drawn downward intothe U shaped ortion 9 of the holder below the pivot 10, w ereby a pull u ward on the bail tightens the rip of the hol er 5 on the fabric, without producing any tendency to reverse the movement of the bail to release the fabric. The supporter thus constructed and attached provides a strong and secure hold on the garment not liable to become loosened, and the increased area of the fabric engaged by the holder prevents injury thereto.

While the form of the holder 5 shown is preferred, it is manifest that it may be varied without departure from the principle of its operation and attachment, which consists in its complete revolubility through the bail from a pendent position to a pendent position, and its adaptability to carry with it a portion of the fabric, which is thereby drawn through the bail and over the holder below its pivotal attachment to the bail, and I therefore do not limit myself. to a holder of the exact form of construction shown and described.

What I claim to be new is 1. In a garment su porter, the combination of a bail, and a ho der comprising a body portion having diverging arms, sa1d 'arms eing pivotally connected at their outer end portions to the end portions of the bail, and

adapted to normally suspend the holder below the bail, and said holder being adapted to be completely revolved from and to such pendent position in either'direction through the bail, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
