EDWARD CLARKSON', OF CARBONDALE, PENNSYLVANIA.-
Letters Patent .No. 92,516, dated Jul 13, 1869.
IMPROVED PIPE-CUTTER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, EDWARD GLARKSON, of Oarbondalc, in the county of Luzerne, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pipe-Cutters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to iniprovementsain pipe-cutters, and consists in the arrangement of the parts by,
which the sliding cutter is operated,- and the parts of the shank adjusted, relatively to each other, to open or close, for the reception of pipes of different diameters.
The drawing represents-a longitudinal section of.
said tubular extension 0 of the part A projects, and is enveloped by .a thumb-nut-, E, screwing onto the extension 0, and having a boss, 1*, at one end, fitting into the opening in the end D.
G represents a feeding-screw, screwing through the tubular extension 0, and bearing against the shank H of the cutter, fitted to slide in the bifurcated jaw B.
The jaws A and B may be adjusted to any desired distance from each other, for all sizes of pipe, by the nut E and tubular extension 0, and when so fitted to the pipe, the cutter is forced up to it by the feedscrew.
When the --feecl-screw is drawn back, the cutter is pressed back by hand.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let-tors Patent--- The arrangement of the threaded tubular extension 0, the thumb-nut E, and cutter I, with relation to the parts A B, of the stock, and the feeding-screw Gr, as herein described, for the purpose specified.
EDWARD OLARKSON.
