To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GEORGE G. SINcLAIR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leominster, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Barrettes or Hair-Retainers," and I do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exact description of the same.

This invention relates to toilet articles andV particularly to a hair fastener ofthe barrette ty e. Y

1An object of this invention is to produce a barrette and fastener, the said fastener being preferably in the form of a pin, and the barrette proper having a device adapted to engage the pin to retain the parts in operative relation. l

A still further object of the invention is to provide a barrette and fastener, in which the pin is clear of obstructions of any kind tending to prevent its being inserted in the hair, the said pin coacting with a dprojection extending from the barrette bo to clam v a portion of the hair of the user to prevent isplacement of the barrette when in applied position. i Y

A further object of the invention is to provide a barrette body with a fin, 4lug or the like adapted to enter an openingin the pin, for pressing the `hair of the user .into the opening, this said lng or projection being analogous to the teeth shown in my` Patent 893,025, issuedJuly 14, 1908.V

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the. arrangement and` combination of parts tobe hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
