Description
ill-titled tintes ALVAHLWORSTER, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK.4
Letters Patent N 91,808, dated June 22, 1869.
IMPRovnn Taisen-BUCKLE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALvAH Wonsrnn, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, and State of N ew York, have invented a ner and useful Improvement in Trace Buckles; and I doV hereby declare that'the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which willenable those skilled in the artto make and use the same, reference being'had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specication, yin which- Y Figure 1 is a front View;
Figure 2 is auedge view; and VFigure 3 is a sectional edge view. Similar letters of reference indicate like parts. I This invention consists in a buckie having a dat central body or bar, which is embraced by a hainestug loop or swinging link, arranged to slide on said central bar in opening or closing the buckle, in such manner that a very snug and easily-operated buckle isv obtained, as hereinafter more fully explained.
In the accompanying drawingsis the hames-tug, and
B is the tug.
The buckle is formed with a central bar, C, which is embraced by a swinging link, D, secured in the hames-tug by a rivet or screw-bolt, d.
On the front end of the buckle is a fixed tongue, e, fig. 3, which engages with the tugin the usual manner.
The body ofthe buckle is formed with an elevation or shoulder, c, which bears against the link when strain is brought upon the tug, and this causes the tug and llames-tug to he clamped together with a force proportional to the strain put upon the tug, so 'that the tongue e is greatly assisted in holding the tug, withY Y out liability of injury.
To release the tug, the buckle is backed up by sliding the bar O through the link D, and the tongue e is then Withdrawn readily. V
The bar C is made with a uniform thickness endf wise, but it may be made somewhat of a Wedging form, the base of the wedge being at the shoulder c.
By these means I obtain a buckle 'which is easily operated, and is snug and reliable.
Having thus described my invention, y
.Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A buckle having a centralbar or body, C c, in connection with the swinging loop D, as and for the purpose herein set forth.
The above specification of my invention signed by me, this 12th day'of December, 1868.
ALVAH WORSTER.
Witnesses WM. J. DODGE, F. A. MonLEY.
