SHEET-METAL PUrrY oo rAmER.
Tov all' 'whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, HENRY Ross, a citizen of the United States, residing in New Castle,
in the county of Lawrence and State of Penn sylvania, have invented a new and useful Im- I provement in Sheet-Metal Putty-Containers,
V of which the following is. aspecification. I
' its lower edge around the double seam which unites the inner wall to the bottom head, the
two walls of the double body being folded or- My invention relates to improvements in the construction of sheet metalpackages for shipment and storage of putty or other like materials. r
The object of sheet metal putty package of a simple construction, ca able of being cheaply manufactured, and w ich will be light in wei ht and have a strong, efficient and dumb e construction.
My invention consists in a sheet 'metal.
vessel or package having a double body, the inner and outer walls of which are united to a single bottom head at the, lower end, the inner wall by an external folded or double seam and'the outeriwall by turning or folding rolled together at their upper ends, and
further braced and locked together by inter engaging beads which are made inwardly projecting to form afshoulder for the upper head of the package, which is preferably of wood and secured in place by nails extending through the double wall body at the mouth:
portion thereof.
The invention further consists in the novel construction of parts and devices and in the" novel combinations of arts and devices herein shown and described and more particularly specified in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part ofthis specification, Figurel is a central, vertical sectional view of a double'body,

outer sheet metal wall 9 of the double body- .2 is furnished at its lower end with an in.
wardly projecting inturnedfiange 10 and an upturned flange 11 embracing the double seam 8 which unites the inner wall 7 of the double body to the bottom head 1. The
plurality of pieces unitedby. a plurality oflockside seams 12, and theouter wall 9 of j the double body is likewise preferably com- 5 posed of a plurality of pieces united by a plurality of lock side seams 13, which roject between and separate the two wal s of the double body.
At their upper ends, the inner and outer sheet metal walls 7 and 9 of the double body 2 are rigidly and firmly secured together by externally projecting rolls orfolds 14 and 15, theroll 14 on the inner sheet metal wall 7 em bracing the roll 15 on the outer sheet metal I The two walls 7 and 9 of the double body are further securely locked and braced together by internally projecting beads 16 and 17 which's'nug'ly engage each other, said internally projecting beads also forming a shoulder for the inside fitting head 3 of the package to rest upon. This cover head 3 is preferably of wood, and is secured in place,
preferably by wire nails 18, inserted through suitable openings 19 in the mouth portion 20 of the double body 2, at which mouth portion the two walls of the double body fit The outer sheet metal wa1l9 of the double body 2 is preferably provided with a series of annular corrugations 21 to further stiifenand strengthen the same.
I claim 2+ 1. The sheet metal putty package herein shown and described, and comprising a single bottom head and a double tapering body having its inner and outer walls united to said single bottomhead at their lower ends,
and its inner and outer walls interfolded and united together at their upper ends, and also provided near their upper ends with interengaging internally projecting beads to form a shoulder for an. inside fitting cover to rest upon, and an inside fitting cover fitting and Y secured within the mouth of the vessel, substantially as specified.
2. In a sheet metal vessel, the combination with a singlebottom head, of a double body having its inner'wall interfolded at its lower end with said bottom head, and its outer wall provided witha flange embracing the seam uniting said inner wall and bottom head, said inner and outer walls of said double body being interfolded and united at their upper ends, substantially as specified.
3. In a sheet metal vessel, the combina tion with a single bottom head, of a double body having its inner Wall interfolded at its lower end with said bottom head, and its outer wall provided with a flange embracing the seam uniting said inner wall and bottom head, said inner and outer walls of said double body being interfolded and united at their upper ends, and also provided near their upper ends with interengaging beads, substantially as specified.
. 4. In a sheet metal vessel, the combination with a single bottom head, of a double body having its inner wall united at its lower end by a double seam to said bottom head, and its outer wall furnished with inwardly and upwardly projecting flanges embracing the seam uniting said inner wall and said bottom head, said inner and outer walls of the double body having at their upper ends externally projecting interengaging rolls securing said walls together, and said inner and outer walls of the double body having in wardly projecting interengaging beads to further brace and lock said walls together, substantially as specified.
5. In a sheet metal vessel, the combination with a single bottom head, of a double body having its inner wall united at its lower end by a double seam to said bottom head,
and its outer wall furnished with inwardly and an inside fitting wood cover resting upon the inwardly projecting bead ol, the inner wall of the double body, substantially as specified.
