REVOL'VING CHRISTMAS-TREE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it ma/y concern: v
Be it known that I, F. A; GEISLER, of B1istol, in the county of Bristol, and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Revolving Christmas-Trees; and 1 do hereby declare that the following is a' full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference beingl had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
' This invention relates to a new and improved device for exhibiting toys, jewelry, and other articles on Christmas eve, and at other times; and
It consists in avertical shaft, having shelves attached thereto, with a wind-wheel on its top end, and made to revolve by rarefying the air beneath the wind-wheel, ashereinafter described.
The drawing represents an elevation of the tree, shown in perspective.
A is the central shaft, which'is supported by the base, B, on a point or step-at its lower end, and by a frame-work, composed ofv vertical or inclined posts or rods, (l, which also rest on the base, and the cap-piece D, through which a spindle, E, in the upper end of the shaft passes.
A represents the shelves.
The cap is supported by the rods C, as seen in the drawing.
G represents candle-stands, attached to the rods O,
vas seen in the drawing, supported by horizontal wires, which are so placed in the rods, in relation to each other, that the heat of one candle does not aiect or melt any one above by the heat it generates.
The heat expands or rareiies the air, and `produces an ascending current suicientl y strong to revolve the shaft and the contents of the shelves by means of the wind-wheel. f
The base, B, is surrounded by a light ornamental railing, as seen in the drawing, and the whole thing may rest on legs, or stand on a table or stool, as may be desired.
I designate this a Christrnastree, but itis apparent that it may be used for other purposes than for Christmas occasions, as, for instance, showing jewelry, millinery, and other light articles of merchandise, inshop-windows, or in other situations.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patentlhe arrangement and combination of the shaft A with the` shelvesl A', the frame, composed of the rods or posts C, cap D, base, B, and Wind-wheel F, substantially as and for the purposes herein shown and described.
