TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 20, 1908.
Application filed February 5, 1908. Serial No. 414,872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD v wnrznn, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resi- New York, county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of
which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a toy which consists of a doll or any other figure secured to a semispherical base to be capable of rockin in any direction.
The b0 y of the figure and the body of the base are of light material, the base being weighted, so as to prevent the body from entirely tilting over and to cause it when swung to always rise into vertical osition.
To make my invention more 0 ear the same is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which similar reference letters denote corresponding parts and in which Figure 1 is an elevation and Fig. 2 a vertical section through the lower part of the toy, the upper part being broken away; Figs. 3 and 4 are details.
a denotes the figure and b the semispherical base thereof. This base may be made of wood or of a cushion c of sawdust or the like contained in a covering d of soft mateupon the base in covered on top by a circular wooden disk e. The body of the figure is suitably secured upon the said disk e by means of a wire ring f attached to said disk.
The base 0 is weighted by a iece g of lead or other heavy material, whic weight will when the body is swung prevent the latter rial. In the latter case the cushion may be from entirely tilting over and will cause it 1 to rise into vertical position.
In the hollow body we, hammer, as a metal rin It, or .the like is suitably sus ended which, when the body is swung, wil strike either one of the musical-pins or tongues 71 projecting upward in a circle from a metal plate different sounds.
What I claim' and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A toy comprisin a hollow figure, a semispherical w ighte pended in sai figure a'nd a number of musical pins or ton ues arranged in a circle t e path of said hammer.
